Creativity plays a big role in driving your department, presenting financial information to clients or management teams; or if you are a business owner, growing your company. Even the most creative people can feel stifled. Coming up with your next big idea can be difficult if you feel that you are in a rut. However, multiple independent studies have found that doing mindless chores can help reduce stress and boost creativity. “A study by the University of California, Santa Barbara, found that doing mindless tasks allows the brain to wander and engage in creative problem-solving.”

So, the next time your spouse offers to do the dishes, tell them you’ll do it because Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates like to. And it’ll save your spouse some work!

I personally love doing the dishes. Laundry is another story.
